Also, ever other day or so, I find that one displays starts jumping around to the point of being unusable and I have to unplug the dock and then plug back in to reset.
Even here, I have daily, sometimes twice or three times a day where the two external screens go dark for a couple of seconds then come back where they left off - like the dock rebooted. I continue to use the docks because they do allow the two external monitors to work as needed - without DisplayLink. The problem can easily be found in the forum. Technical support is what you would expect from a offshore call center. That’s because a single Thunderbolt connection becomes not one but three USB 2.0 ports. Does not work even if using a powered USB hub between the peripheral and dock. The new display itself doubles as what Apple calls the ultimate docking station for Mac notebooks.

Plus the M1 mini, as I understand, supports fewer displays than my last mini did. The monitor situation when last I bought was DVI or HDMI, so quite a simple choice, but seems to be much more muddled now with the addition of displayport and mini-displayport and USB-C and thunderbolt.
